The core mandates of the organization are to provide capacity building, development and humanitarian services. To this end, we work to stimulate the participation of the underserved communities/groups/people in their own development by providing critical humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.  In the areas of capacity building, peacebuilding, governance, gender equality, violence against women and children, child protection services, education in emergency services, cash transfer services, case management, psycho-social support and early warning.

In line with our belief for human capital development in an equal and open society, JIID is dedicated to improving access to governance and decision-making processes to the ordinary citizens by creating avenues to give VOICE to the voiceless. We work to promote gender equality in governance processes by promoting the participation of women and marginalized groups in public policy and decision-making processes. We believe that achieving the goals of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and other development agendas, encompasses a strong civil society and partnerships for development that is citizen’s centred within a human rights framework.

Using a Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to development programming and Need Based Approach (NBA) to humanitarian programming, JIID works to expand the rights to development to marginalised groups by mainstreaming children, youths, women and other vulnerable and marginalized groups in humanitarian and development actions. As an organization, our core values are participation, inclusion, gender equality, integrity, accountability and leave no one behind.
